Set and Match Point

Here is the Baby Bolero pic I promised. I knit this in Reynolds 'Mandalay,' 100% Silk. The pattern is from
'One Skein,' by Lee Radford and the hat pattern is
the Eyelet Hat I acquired from 'Stitches From the Heart.' I think they make a nice pair. It is for my friendly pharmacist at Kerr Drug. She has a new little girl named 'Emma.' She has taken such good care of our family that I wanted to knit something for her newborn. Congrats, Marci!

See! I really do knit!

Back on the Chain Gang

Hello Ladies,

Just wanted to let you all know why I have been neglecting my blog of late. I have a new job and have been training the last two weeks. The hours have run kind of late, so I haven't had time to brush my teeth, much lest post to my blog or read email. I have been knitting some, though. This job involves driving across half the state and fortunately for me, I was a passenger rather than a driver. I met a very nice trainer from Cincinnati named Cindy. When we discovered in conversation that we are both knitters, we became fast friends (the magic of knitting). We shared our current projects (Of course she brought one with her!), we toured 'Shuttles, Needles, and Hooks,' our charming LYS, and I taught her to knit socks. Cindy is a sweetheart and I hope we will keep in touch. She doesn't do computers well...that's why I say that.

Meanwhile, I have missed all of you and shall, hopefully, be able to write more often now. I am hoping to buy a new digital camera with my first paycheck and also figure out how to put pics from our beach trip onto my computer, (they are on my DS camera) so that I can finally post them here. I know, I know...talk is cheap.

Nonetheless, I am broke until that paycheck arrives, so I hope you will all visit here again over the next few days. I plan to have new pics of Baby Bolero for you. Have a wonderful weekend!

Emma's Bathroom Blog

Dear Reader,

You see, I have this 5-year-old little girl named Emma. She has red curls, brown eyes and is cute as a button. She has a good little heart, too. She does her best to help me out around the house with laundry, cleaning and other little mundane chores, and, best of all, she *wants* to learn how to knit. It's coming along slowly, I admit. But, she has her little kitty needles and we plug away every so often. She is truely a joy.

However, she does have her little quirks. For example, she loves all shoes, but in order for them to grace her feet, they must fit exactly right. They must conform to her little foot like a glove, hugging every last molecule of it, or she becomes very frustrated with them and won't wear them, no matter how new, pink, hello kitty-ish they are. This can be very frustrating for a mom, trust me!

Also, her bathroom etiquette leaves something to be desired. Beyond using too much toilet paper, and most curiously, I believe she has decided that she needs to see every single restroom in every store/public building we visit. Just follow me for a moment, here. Yesterday, in typical motherly fashion, I made a trip to the drug store to pick up my DH medication, Food Lion for frozen pizza and EB Games for a DD to trade in some old video games. While at waiting in the car, Emma said she needed to use the bathroom. So we went to the adjoining Linens and Things. While we were in the 'big stall' (she has to choose when she can) she said "This has alot of space, mommy." When we were finally 'done' and she came out to wash hands, she remarked on how much she liked the flowers on the counter and the blowy thing which was quieter than that other loud one we had to use last time.
At this point, it dawned on me that, if I was going to be spending a good part of my waking hours knitting/waiting in these public restrooms, I should do a blog...Emma's bathroom blog. Boy, that Linen's and things would probably rate an 8 out of 10.
So, dear reader, don't be surprised by an occasional foray into the fascinating world of public restrooms. Don't worry, we'll be sure not to share pics of the nasty ones, only the nice ones:)

Hello From Paradise!

Sorry no pics yet. Could not make sissy's camera work...I won't bore you with the details, it just ain't happenin'. But, I did want to tell you that I have been able to relax and enjoy the ocean breeze. Us girls are all supposed to visit Phootsy's Yarn Cottage in Jacksonville some time this week. For all of you in Chapel Hill, that's about 30 miles from Topsail Island, where we are staying. Spoke to the owner on the phone. Didn't get her name, but she is definitely a sister in yarn, ya'll. I'll be sure to take some pics and post them all next week. Going to make Paula Deen's Granite Steps Country Blueberry Coffee Cake. (Maybe I'll try the Oyster Skillet..not sure.) Anyhoo, ya'll have a great week and I'll get back to you with pics sometime soon!

Y'all go with me,

Ang
