Spindles

I have to share with you an experience I had at Chain Link's Fall Show. I was shopping at theUnplanned Peacock booth, talking with the owner, I am supposing, since she knew everything about the colorways she was carrying, how everything there was spun, etc...She had some wonderful fleece, as well as a variety of hand dyed yarns. I was inquiring about drop spindles. I wanted to buy one and wondered if she had any there for sale. She did not, but another kind lady overheard us and offered, very generously, to send me one of hers, as, she said, she had not had the time lately to spin. I gave her my address and thanked her profusely. I am ashamed to admit that I never asked her name. Nonetheless, here are the beautiful spindles she sent to me...you can imagine my delight at receiving, not one, but three gorgeous pieces of art....

And they all spin beautifully! The heaviest of the 3 is to the right, with the marbl
e whorl and the middle and left spindles are lighter. She also included some fiber that I can spin with. The package came from Miss Bab's Fibers, yarn that I previously mentioned here as exceedingly gorgeous. I am also reading Abby Franquemont's 'Respect The Spindle.' This has been most helpful in getting me to a point where I am spinning every day and loving it! Abby has wonderful tips and pictorials for various techniques for spinning and plying as well as yummy photography. What a wonderful craft.
