Isn't this little guy so cute? We visited Dunn, NC the other day, to put flowers on my Brother's grave. Many of my family members are buried there.  A couple of my Aunts and various cousins still live there, so we stopped to visit my Aunt Jackie on our way home.  I saw this in her bathroom and just had to snap a picture.  It is a toilet paper roll cover. One of my daughter's closest friends from High School is expecting a baby boy soon. I have worked up a little cable hat for the cherub. I wanted something that Mom, Jess, could use at anytime that would also be soft and keep baby Noah warm. So I used a soft, chunky yarn in a neutral color. The little hat worked up in no time, too. A few days ago, I saw a skein of Red Heart at the Wal Mart that I just had to have. It was a beautiful deep red, orange, green and it made me think of leaves, pumkins, cornstalks, sweaters...anything you would associate with Fall. Well, I have cast on my first hand spun knitting project, an Estonian scarf. It only has 32 stitches. Do you think that is too much? Let's hope not. My husband has been asking me to make Peppermint soap for a while now. So, Sunday, I had a little extra time, and all the ingredients I needed, so I set to work. Well, I am mighty proud of myself. Forgetting that I did this spending half the day in my pajamas and accomplishing nothing else, I created the new blog banner you see above! I used this tutorial and my Picasa Photo software. I think it came out great. Working hard lately on a couple of designs and it got me thinking.... First, there are many things that could be done with a new crochet design. Here's a pic of a project I finished back in February. It is called a Triinu Scarf, from Nancy Bush's book Knitted Lace Of Estonia. I want to knit every project in this book. Here we are, the day after Christmas, and my livingroom looks like a bomb went off in there. We are talking empty toy packaging, (Emma wants to save it, don't ask me why), gift bags, empty coffee cups, toy how-to inserts, and yarn. (Last minute frenzy of gift knitting, don't 'cha know). Can't imagine having time for shopping and blogging as I contimplate how long it will take to clean up this..
